Hipmunk was a travel metasearch engine known for it’s unique UI sort feature, and it’s cheeky chipmunk mascot, Chippy. Like many tech startups during the 2010s, Hipmunk used an illustrative mascot to humanize software, build brand recognition, and set a friendly tone for it’s visual identity and marketing.
The home page is a website’s most important digital real estate. I created a library of backgrounds to correspond with the seasons and holidays and created custom illustrations for other companies to partner with Hipmunk.
